Artist Academy Issy: Isaiah St Jean's $65 Skool Room for Musicians

Artist Academy W/Issy is Isaiah St Jean's Skool community for independent artists: 43 members, $65 a month, a free 1:1 call on signup and the tightest roster in Music.

Artist Academy W/Issy is Isaiah St Jean's Skool community for independent musicians, priced at $65 a month with 43 members, and it sits at rank 45 in the Skool Games Music top 50 on $2,853.08 of monthly recurring revenue. That works out at $66.35 per member, which is more than the sticker price, and it is the only room in this batch where that is true.

A number above the list price means almost every profile in the room is paying, and some are paying more. Skool lists three tiers here, standard, premium and vip, and only the lowest is public. Forty-three members with essentially no dead weight is the rarest thing on the Music board.

Who is Isaiah St Jean?

Isaiah St Jean is an actor and recording artist based in London who runs Artist Academy as @isaiahstjean. His Skool bio reads "Q4 Skool Games winner, Actor & Artist, Founder of Artist Academy," and the community's own tagline calls it "the music career coach in your pocket."

The dual career is the credential. Most music marketing is sold by marketers who have never released anything, which is the objection every artist raises first. Somebody who is visibly working on both sides of the industry answers it without having to argue, and the about page is notable for how little it argues at all.

London-based actor and recording artist, founder of Artist Academy W/Issy, a 43-member Skool community for independent musicians at $65 a month. His Skool bio names him a Q4 Skool Games winner. He runs the room as its only admin, offers a free one to one jumpstart call to every new member and delivers a course library covering album creation, streaming growth, playlist pitching, short-form algorithms and Meta ads.

How Artist Academy sells

It leads with a tension most music marketing offers avoid: "built for people who want to build a real career but also protect your creative integrity." That sentence names the fear that stops artists buying marketing help at all, which is that the marketing will eat the music.

The diagnosis that follows is three symptoms rather than three problems. Releases feel scattered, growth plateaus between projects, tired of guessing what to do next. Every one of those describes an artist who is already releasing, which quietly sets the entry bar. This is not a room for people who have never put out a song.

Then comes the line that carries the offer: "you don't wing it. You follow the system, execute the strategy, and stack wins, from your home studio, even on low-energy seasons, through creative blocks, or during chaotic life chapters." The qualifiers are the point. Naming low energy, creative block and chaos as expected conditions rather than excuses is an unusually honest thing to put in a sales page, and it is aimed at somebody who has already failed a consistency promise once.

The deliverable stack is seven named blueprints and a weekly Q&A, and the first item is a free one to one call with the founder on signup. At $65 a month with 43 members and one admin, that call is affordable in a way it would not be at 400 members, which is the trade being made.

Source and edits: the copy above is the community's public Skool about page. Emoji were removed, an em dash replaced with a comma, and the pointing-hand markers before the three-line instruction block written out as line breaks. The Q4 Skool Games win, the blueprint titles and the free jumpstart call are the page's and the founder's own claims and we have not tested any of them. Membership, price, staffing, MRR, traffic, reviews and rank come from a single pull on 30 August 2026; Skool's board moves weekly.

Revenue per member above the sticker price

$2,853.08 divided by 43 members is $66.35. The public entry price is $65. That combination is rare enough to be worth stopping on.

For revenue per member to exceed the entry price, effectively every profile must be paying and at least some must be on a higher tier. Skool lists three membership products here, standard, premium and vip, and the platform only exposes the cheapest. Most rooms we measure sit well below their sticker price because member counts include lapsed cards, comped seats and grandfathered rates.

Music room Members Entry price MRR MRR per member
Musicwork Pro 36 $150/mo $3,579.00 $99.42
Artist Academy W/Issy 43 $65/mo $2,853.08 $66.35
NotaMuhendisi Muzik Akademisi 69 $59/mo $3,040.00 $44.06
VOCES 101 $27/mo $2,673.00 $26.47
Sound Horizon Academy Elite 222 $47/mo $4,570.50 $20.59

The tell for a healthy small room: MRR per member at or above the entry price means the roster is clean and the tiers are working. MRR per member at half the entry price means there is revenue sitting inside the community that a pricing audit would recover. It costs nothing to check and almost nobody does.

One admin, 43 members, and a free call

One admin per 43 members is the tightest ratio in this batch, and it has to be, because the offer includes a one to one call with the founder for everybody who joins.

This is the constraint that decides the shape of the business. A free founder call is the strongest possible onboarding and it does not survive scale: at 400 members it becomes a full-time job, and at 4,000 it is impossible. St Jean has chosen the version where the call stays real, and the price is set high enough to make 43 members a business rather than a hobby.

The posting rate supports it. 1,079 posts against 43 members since July 2024 is roughly 25 posts per member, an order of magnitude denser than the large cheap rooms in the same category. Small paid rooms produce conversation; large cheap rooms produce consumption. Both are legitimate and they are not interchangeable, as the contrast with the largest guitar room on Skool makes plain.

The chat-only free tier

The one free benefit listed is worth reading carefully: "1 free chat-only webinar per week (no video/voice access)."

That is an unusually precise piece of scoping. A free weekly session is a real reason to show up, and stripping video and voice from it keeps the delivery cost near zero while making the upgrade obvious the first time somebody wants to actually be heard. Most free tiers fail because they either give away too much or are so thin nobody attends. This one gives away the room and withholds the microphone.

If you are designing a free layer of your own, the mechanics of moving people across the line are covered in converting free Skool members to paid.

Where the traffic comes from

295 visitors on the 30 August pull is mid-table for Music, a category that tops out at 8,234 for its busiest room. Branded search for "artist academy issy" returns a thin cluster, which tells you the room is not being found by name at any scale yet.

That is the honest gap in an otherwise well-built business. The roster is clean, the price is right, the retention looks healthy and the ratio is deliberate, but the front door is narrow. For a room with strong unit economics and low traffic, Growth Boost is the cheapest experiment available, because a small percentage increase in visitors against a $65 offer with near-100% collection pays back fast.

The funnel, step by step

Independent artists who are already releasing music arrive from short-form content and Skool Discovery, attend a free chat-only webinar, and convert into a $65 subscription whose first deliverable is a one to one call with the founder.

The formula you can copy

Name the objection before the benefit. "Protect your creative integrity" is the first thing on the page because it is the first thing in the reader's head. The general version is in how to write a Skool about page.

Put your own time at the front, and price so it survives. A free founder call is the most persuasive thing a small community can offer and the first thing that breaks under growth. Deciding in advance how many members that call can survive is a pricing decision, not an operations one, and how to price a Skool community is where that gets settled.

And scope your free tier by what it withholds, not by what it gives. Chat-only access with no microphone is a better free offer than a watered-down course, because the missing piece is the exact thing that makes somebody upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

What is Artist Academy W/Issy?

Artist Academy is a private Skool community run by Isaiah St Jean for independent musicians who are already releasing music and want a system for growing a career. It has 43 members at an entry price of $65 a month, one admin, 12 courses and 1,079 posts since July 2024. Every new member gets a free one to one jumpstart call with the founder, plus blueprints covering album creation, 100K streams, playlist pitching, short-form algorithms and Meta ads.

How much does Artist Academy cost?

$65 a month is the publicly listed entry price on the 30 August 2026 pull. Skool shows three membership tiers here, standard, premium and vip, and the platform only displays the cheapest one, so the higher tiers are priced privately. A free weekly chat-only webinar with no video or voice access sits in front of the paid room. Check the community's own about page for current pricing rather than any figure quoted elsewhere, including here.

Who is Isaiah St Jean?

Isaiah St Jean is a London-based actor and recording artist who founded Artist Academy and runs it as its only admin. His Skool bio names him a Q4 Skool Games winner. The dual career is the credential the community rests on, because it answers the standard objection to music marketing advice, which is that the person selling it has never released anything themselves.

Is Artist Academy worth $65 a month?

It depends on where you are. The about page qualifies for artists whose releases feel scattered and whose growth plateaus between projects, which describes somebody with a catalogue rather than a first single. If you are already releasing and the missing piece is a repeatable plan plus somebody to ask, a room this small with a free founder call is a lot of access for the price. If you have not released anything yet, the material is aimed past you.

How do independent artists actually grow a fanbase?

The pattern that works is consistent releases supported by short-form content that gives people a reason to find the music, then converting listeners into a list you own rather than a follower count you rent. Playlist placement and paid ads amplify something that is already converting; neither fixes a release nobody is looking for. The reason offers in this niche emphasise systems over tactics is that the failure mode is almost always inconsistency rather than ignorance.

Why does revenue per member exceed the listed price?

Because Skool only publishes a community's cheapest tier. Artist Academy lists three, standard, premium and vip, so members on the higher two pay more than $65 and pull the average above the visible price. It also means the roster is close to fully paid, since lapsed and comped seats would drag the figure down. Most rooms we measure sit well below their sticker price rather than above it.
