Pro Gig Academy: Finbar Horgan's Three-Rung Skool Funnel
Pro Gig Academy is Finbar Horgan's Skool funnel for solo acoustic performers: 5,100 free members, 599 at $27, and 104 paying $125 a month.

Pro Gig Academy (Plus) is Finbar Horgan's private Skool community for solo acoustic guitarists and singers who want to perform, priced at $125 a month or $997 a year, with 104 members and one admin. It is the top rung of the most completely documented three-step funnel we have found on Skool: a free room of about 5,100, a $27 product with 599 buyers, and this.
The numbers
- Music niche (solo acoustic performance, gigging, open mics)
- Rank 19 in the Skool Games Music top 50, 1,195 globally
- 104 members, private

- 1 admin, the founder

Who is Finbar Horgan?
Finbar Horgan runs all three rooms as @finbar-horgan-5856. His Skool bio states what he does in one line: he helps acoustic guitarists and singers become confident solo performers. His account dates from 15 September 2024 and he describes himself on the paid page as a full-time gigging musician, which is the credential the offer actually rests on.
He is unusual in our corpus for how little he claims. There is no subscriber count, no support-slot name-dropping, no award. The strongest credibility signal on his pages is the $27 product, which is titled "My Top 50 Solo Gigging Setlist as a full-time gigging musician" and comes with 50 video tutorials. Selling your own working setlist is a credential in the form of a product.

How Pro Gig Academy sells
It sells the removal of a feeling, not the acquisition of a skill. The headline is: become a gig ready solo acoustic performer without overthinking and overwhelm. Not without practice, not without theory. Without overthinking, which is the actual thing standing between a competent bedroom player and a paid Friday night.
Everything under it is chosen to attack that same feeling. Four or more live calls a week, including virtual open mics, which is rehearsal for the specific fear the product is named after. Every session recorded and archived, so a member in the wrong time zone does not quietly drop out. A line promising a positive, supportive environment, headed "Zero Ego", which is not a feature in any normal sense but is a direct answer to why people do not post videos of themselves playing.
And then the one that carries the price: upload your covers and get direct feedback from me daily. Daily, from one person, to 104 members. On the two axes that matter, a single admin and a stated daily cadence, that is the most exposed personal promise we have logged in the Music category, and it is also the only reason a $125 room can exist next to a $49 one.

The whole funnel, with real numbers at every rung
Most of the funnels we describe are inferred. This one is published, because the founder's Skool profile lists all three rooms with their member counts and prices on the same screen.
| Rung | Community | Members | Price | Share of the free room |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pro Gig Academy | About 5,100 | Free | Baseline |
| 2 | Top 50 Solo Gigging Setlist | 599 | $27 one-time | About 12% |
| 3 | Pro Gig Academy (Plus) | 104 | $125/mo or $997/yr | About 2% |
Two caveats before anyone treats those percentages as conversion rates. We do not know that every buyer at rungs two and three came from rung one, and the free room has been running longer than the paid one, so the populations are not time-matched. The column describes what the three rooms look like today, not what any cohort did.
What the shape says is still worth having. Roughly one in eight free members has bought something, and roughly one in six of those buyers has gone on to the subscription. The $27 rung is doing the work in the middle: it converts a member into a customer at a price nobody has to think about, and it does so with a product that is a demonstration of the founder's actual job.
The cheap product is not for the money: 599 buyers at $27 is a modest one-off sum. Its real output is 599 people who have now paid this person once, which is the hardest transition in any funnel and the one a free room never makes on its own.
Rank 19 on 343 visitors
Pro Gig Academy (Plus) recorded 343 visitors on the 29 August pull, the lowest of the Music top-20 rooms we have measured, and it still sits at rank 19. That combination is not a contradiction, because the Skool Games board is ranked by monthly recurring revenue, not by traffic. A hundred and four members at $125 is a larger recurring number than a thousand browsers.
The funnel is what makes the traffic figure so low. Visitors land on the free Pro Gig Academy, which is not on the paid board, and the paid room receives already-warm members rather than strangers. Traffic and rank are measuring two different rooms.
| Music room | Visitors on the 29 August pull | Music rank |
|---|---|---|
| Black Suit Music | 8,197 | 12 |
| Bulletproof Guitar Club | 6,812 | 17 |
| The Modern DJ Academy | 4,387 | 18 |
| Pro Gig Academy (Plus) | 343 | 19 |
The room at rank 19 draws under 5% of the traffic of the room at rank 12, yet only seven places separate them, because the ordering never asked about traffic. Read the board as a revenue ordering of the rooms Skool can see, and read traffic as a separate column. A community can look weak on one and be strong on the other, which is the whole reason we publish both.
One admin, four calls a week, daily feedback
104 members and one admin, who is also the person promising four or more live calls a week and daily one-to-one feedback on uploaded videos. There is no team behind that. Compared with the roughly one admin per 17 that Pocket Singers Elite runs to service sixteen group calls a month, this is a room whose entire delivery model is one person's calendar.
That is a genuine risk and it is also the product. The reason somebody pays $125 rather than $49 is that the feedback comes from the person whose setlist they bought, and the moment that is delegated the price stops making sense. The cap on this business is therefore not marketing, it is hours, and the interesting question is what happens at 300 members rather than at 104.
The room has posted 2,231 times since September 2025, about 21 for every current member. Roughly a year of accumulation against a roster counted today, so it is high for a room this size without being a rate of anything.
Where this sits next to the other guitar rooms
The Music top 50 now holds at least five guitar communities, and we set out why they coexist in the Bulletproof Guitar Club breakdown published the same day.
Pro Gig Academy occupies the one lane none of the others touch. It sells performing, to a player who can already play, which is why its graduates are the other rooms' graduates rather than their lost customers. It is also the only one of the five whose product would still make sense if the member never learned another lick.
The funnel, step by step
Players arrive from gigging and solo-acoustic searches, join a free room of 5,100, buy a $27 setlist, and a fraction of those move to a subscription with a thirty-day refund attached.
The annual option is priced at a 34% saving against twelve monthly payments, $997 against $1,500, and the page does the division for you rather than making you do it. Stating "$83/month" next to "$125/month" is the entire persuasion, and the rounding is honest: $997 over twelve months is $83.08.
The formula you can copy
Put a $27 rung between free and expensive. A free member and a paying member are separated by a psychological step, not a price, and the cheapest way across it is a small product that is also proof you do the thing. A working musician selling his working setlist is both at once.
Do the division for the buyer. "$997 a year, works out as $83 a month" converts an annual commitment into a monthly comparison the reader is already making. Almost every community we break down publishes the annual price and leaves the buyer to divide, which most will not bother to do. The wider ladder logic is in Skool membership tiers.
And sell the state, not the skill. Overthinking and overwhelm are what actually stop a competent player from taking a gig, and a page that names them is talking to a real person rather than to a syllabus, which is the whole argument in how to write a Skool about page.
Frequently asked questions
What is Pro Gig Academy?
Pro Gig Academy is Finbar Horgan's free Skool community for solo acoustic guitarists and singers, with about 5,100 members. Pro Gig Academy (Plus) is the paid version: 104 members, $125 per month or $997 per year, one admin, 2,231 posts since September 2025, and a thirty-day no-questions-asked refund. Members get four or more live calls a week including virtual open mics, a recorded archive, a ten-pillar roadmap course, and daily feedback from the founder on uploaded covers.
How much does Pro Gig Academy Plus cost?
One hundred and twenty-five dollars a month with cancel-anytime billing, or $997 as a single annual payment, which the about page itself translates to $83 a month. The annual option saves $503 against twelve monthly payments. A thirty-day full refund with no questions asked is offered on the page, and the free Pro Gig Academy community remains available at no cost.
Who is Finbar Horgan?
Finbar Horgan is a full-time gigging musician who runs three Skool communities for solo acoustic performers: the free Pro Gig Academy, a $27 product called Top 50 Solo Gigging Setlist with 599 buyers, and the paid Pro Gig Academy (Plus). His Skool account dates from September 2024 and his bio states that he helps acoustic guitarists and singers become confident solo performers.
How do you get gigs as a solo musician?
The route most working solo acts describe is the same one in every town: build a reliable two to three hour set of songs a room will recognise, get video of yourself playing it well, then approach venues that already book solo acts rather than trying to convince ones that do not. Open mics are the standard proving ground because they cost nothing and give you the one thing practice cannot, which is playing badly in front of strangers and surviving it. Repeat bookings come from being easy to work with far more often than from being the best player available.
How much should you charge for a three-hour gig?
It varies enormously by country, venue type and night of the week, so any single figure would be misleading. The practical approach working musicians describe is to find out what comparable acts in your area are actually paid, price at that level rather than under it, and quote a flat fee that already includes your travel and setup rather than discovering those costs afterwards. Undercutting the local rate to get started is common and tends to be hard to reverse with the same venue.
Is a paid community worth it if you can already play?
That is exactly the buyer this room is aimed at, and the honest answer is that it depends on what is stopping you. If the gap is technique, a course is cheaper. If the gap is that you have never performed a full set, been given honest feedback on your covers, or had a reason to do it this week rather than next year, then a room with weekly virtual open mics and daily feedback is selling the thing you are actually missing. The thirty-day refund exists so you can answer that question with a month of evidence rather than a guess.
