IDALL AI Review: Darren Maen's $9 AI Film Skool

IDALL AI is Darren Maen's $9/month AI filmmaking Skool, rising to $18 at 4,000 members. We test its Top 2 claim against what Skool displayed on 6 Nov 2026.

IDALL AI Review: Darren Maen's $9 AI Film Skool

IDALL AI wants to be the film school in a category full of income promises, with director Darren Maen charging $9 a month to teach cinematic AI films and ads, a price the page says doubles at 4,000 members, and calling itself the "Top 2 AI Video Community on Skool", a claim that holds only on some measures.

It had 3,717 members on 6 November 2026, leaving 283 before the stated rise. Here is what the claim, the craft angle and the price step each add up to.

The numbers, 6 November 2026

  • $9/month displayed, stated to rise to $18 at 4,000 members
  • $79/year annual plan stated
  • 3,717 members, 3 admins
  • 4.9 from 112 reviews
  • 18 courses, 213 modules, 3,622 posts
  • 7-day full refund stated
  • Created 17 January 2026

Is IDALL AI really a top 2 AI video community?

That depends on the measure, because the page doesn't name one, and on 6 November 2026 it came second on reviews but not on members or leaderboard figure. The claim is the community's own, and here is how it looks against what we could read.

Measure, 6 November 2026 First Second IDALL AI
Members on Discovery's first page AI Video Bootcamp, 30,428 Ai Filmmaking, 5,950 Third, 3,717
Leaderboard, AI Video category AI Video Bootcamp, $225,178 GenHQ, $72,798 Not in the top 100
Reviews AI Video Bootcamp, 306 IDALL AI, 112 Second

So it does come second on reviews among the rooms in our AI video guide, and it may have ranked differently on the day the copy was written. The fair reading is that a ranking badge without a named measure tells you little, so judge the room on what's inside.

What makes IDALL AI different from other AI video rooms?

It leads with craft instead of income, promising "MAKE AI FILMS & ADS THAT LOOK REAL", while most rooms in the category lead with earning. Its lesson list starts with cinematic films and stories, then commercials and social ads, then tools and workflows. A portfolio and freelance opportunities come later.

Our AI video guide notes only a handful of rooms take this approach. The closest comparison on price is AI Video Bootcamp, also $9 and far larger, while GenHQ shows no listed price but displays much more on the leaderboard.

The page also offers "Create your first cinematic film or professional ad in 14 days", and a proof point: 3 members reached Higgsfield Film Festival finals. Both are the community's own statements, and we have not verified them. Festival finals are specific enough for a buyer to check.

Who is Darren Maen?

He presents as a working creative director rather than an AI hobbyist, which is the room's main credential.

Darren Maen
Owner handle @darren-maen-4330. His bio says creative director and founder of Efir Media, with 15+ years in digital, and names work with Huda Beauty, Skechers and Sephora.

The brand list varies by location. The bio names Huda Beauty, Skechers and Sephora, while the about page says the "Team behind campaigns" for Skechers, ANTA and L'Oréal and 40+ brands. None of it was verified by us, and "team behind" is broader than saying one person directed them.

What happens at 4,000 members?

The monthly price is stated to double from $9 to $18, and it would change the room's economics more than a member's. At the average pace since creation, about 12.7 members a day over 293 days, the remaining 283 would take about 22 days. That is arithmetic, not a forecast.

Plan Yearly cost Note
$9/month, stated as locked for life $108 Before the rise
$18/month, after 4,000 members $216 New joiners
$79/year, as stated $79 $6.58 a month, the page's "SAVE 27%" checks out against $108

The owner's side is what makes this step sensible. At $9, 3,717 members cap out at $33,453 a month, below the $52,600 leaderboard floor. At $18, 4,000 members would have a ceiling of $72,000, though early members locked at $9 hold the real figure far below that for a long time. The public step gives a reason to join now, and members who join early keep the lower rate.

Should you join, and what should you check?

At $9 with a stated 7-day full refund, the risk is low and the question is simply whether new lessons keep up with the tools. Video models change quickly, so ask when the last few lessons were added.

Also check the extras with a skeptical eye. The "AI Job Agent", described as finding freelance and full-time jobs 24/7, could be useful or could be a simple feed. Try it during your refund window. If your goal is a real film, look at what members have actually finished, as "finished videos" is what the page promises.

The builder lesson: in a category full of income claims, leading with craft is a position in itself. If you use a ranking badge, say what it ranks, because a careful reader will check.

We reviewed the public about page as Skool displayed it on 6 November 2026 and did not join. The Top 2 line, brand work, festival results and lesson counts are the community's own claims. Member figures for other rooms come from our 6 November AI video guide, and leaderboard figures are what it displayed that day. The Skool Files is not affiliated with IDALL or with Skool.
