Jake Whan's Ascension University: $47 Skool Reviewed
Ascension University makes $10,242 a month at $47 from 304 members, and runs 7 admins for them. A measured read of the offer, the staffing and the copy.

Ascension University is Jake Whan's Skool community for nervous system regulation, breathwork and somatic practice, framed on its about page around healing the nervous system and deepening a connection with God. It costs $47 a month with a free trial. When we read the page on 3 September 2026 it showed 304 members, and Skool's leaderboard put the room twentieth in Spirituality on $10,242.33 a month.
The figure worth noticing is not the revenue. It is that 304 members are served by seven admins, roughly one for every 43 people, which is the heaviest staffing in this batch by a wide margin and about twelve times denser than the room ranked three places above it.

Who is Jake Whan?
The owner of the Ascension University account. His Skool profile lists a Costa Rica location and a bio describing him as a speaker, facilitator and podcast host whose stated purpose is helping people heal their nervous system and connect to God. The about copy names him three times, always as Jake.
What does the Ascension University about page sell?
A first week, then a curriculum, then a schedule. The page opens with three questions, names the community, and immediately tells the reader what day one looks like before it lists anything else. Below is the copy as published, with emoji replaced by plain markers and the dash set as a comma. Hover a number for our reading.

Why does Ascension University need seven admins for 304 members?
Because of what the page promises. Weekly live practice, coaching and Q&A, plus monthly two hour breathwork journeys, plus retreats and live events, are all commitments that require a human being present on a specific date. A room selling recorded courses does not need that; a room selling attendance does.
Seven people can hold live practice for 304 members. The same seven could not hold it for 3,000, so at some point either the promise changes or the roster stops growing. Founders usually meet that ceiling long after they wrote the sentence that created it.
| Room | Members | Admins | One admin per | What the page promises |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ascension University | 304 | 7 | 43 | Weekly live practice, monthly 2 hour sessions |
| BEyond Universe | 400 | 7 | 57 | Free public room, paid sessions sold inside |
| Kosmogonia University | 335 | 5 | 67 | Weekly live calls, field trips |
| Game God Brotherhood | 333 | 2 | 167 | Weekly call, daily posts, vault courses |
| PHILOSOPHY ROOM | 1,013 | 2 | 507 | Daily writing, no individual contact promised |
Read that table from the right and the staffing column stops being a mystery. Every step up in individual attention roughly halves the number of members one admin can carry. Nothing else in the table, not price, not age, not subject, predicts staffing as well as the promise does.
Write the promise you can staff. A founder writing an about page is not only describing a product, they are signing a rota. Every "weekly live" or "direct access" bullet is a permanent labour cost, and it is why the highest priced rooms are usually the smallest. Decide the roster you want first, then write only the promises that roster can absorb. We work through the same trade off from the pricing side in [how to price a Skool community](/blog/how-to-price-a-skool-community).
Does naming the first seven days improve conversion?
We cannot measure the lift from outside, but we can say how rare it is. Of the about pages we have read across more than 400 breakdowns, very few tell the reader what happens in week one. Most list what exists inside; this one names a seven day course, says who teaches it, and puts that sentence above the feature list rather than in it.
The reason it matters is that the buyer's real fear at $47 a month is not that the material is bad. It is that they will join, be faced with 224 modules across 9 courses, feel overwhelmed and quietly stop opening the app. A named starting path removes the largest source of early churn a content-heavy room has, which is a member who never found their way in. The same insight sits behind the structural findings in the top 100 Skool about pages.
The playbook underneath a 512 day old room
Open with questions the reader answers yes to. Three of them here, each one a smaller commitment than joining, and by the fourth line the reader has already agreed with the premise. It is a much older device than a headline and it survives because it works on people who skim.
Put the onboarding path above the feature list. Name the first course, name the length, name the teacher. A reader who can picture their first week is buying a specific experience; a reader looking at a bullet list is buying a hope.
Publish claims you can defend against your own counter. The copy says 350+ souls and Skool rendered 304 members on the same screen. A visitor who notices reads it as either a stale page or a rounded-up number, and neither helps. Round figures in about copy age badly the moment the platform starts publishing the real one beside them.
Do not read a thirty day dip as a verdict. This room lost $617.75 across the window we measured, about 5.7% of its base, on 1,567 listed visitors and a 5.0 rating from three reviews. Movements at that scale are normal on the Skool Games leaderboard, where a single cohort's renewal date can swing a small room's row either way.
Frequently asked questions
What is Ascension University?
It is Jake Whan's Skool community for breathwork, somatic practice and nervous system regulation, with a spiritual framing the about page describes as deepening a connection with God. Membership includes a 7 day Nervous System 101 course, a 6 week healing course, 30 or more practices, weekly live practice and Q&A with Jake, and monthly two hour breathwork journeys.
How much does Ascension University cost?
$47 a month, as displayed on the about page on 3 September 2026. The join button reads START FREE TRIAL, so there is a trial period before the first charge, and the copy states "cancel anytime". No annual price is shown.
Who is Jake Whan?
His Skool profile describes him as a speaker, facilitator and host of The Second Coming Podcast, with a listed location of Costa Rica. He created Ascension University on 9 April 2025 and runs it with six other admins. We report only what his profile and about page state and have not verified his credentials.
How many members does Ascension University have?
Skool showed 304 members and 7 admins on 3 September 2026, with a 5.0 rating from 3 reviews. The about copy separately claims a worldwide community of 350+ souls. Both figures are published here as found and we cannot say which is current.
How much does Ascension University earn?
$10,242.33 a month, per Skool's public leaderboard on 3 September 2026, after a $617.75 fall across the previous thirty days. It ranks 20th in Spirituality and 666th globally, which works out at $33.69 per member against a $47 price, or 71.7% of sticker.
Is Ascension University worth it?
That depends on whether you will use live sessions. The archive is substantial at 9 courses and 224 modules, but two of the eight bullets on the page are calendar commitments, and those are what a recurring price buys. If you would attend the weekly practice and the monthly two hour journey, the staffing ratio of one admin per 43 members is unusually generous for the price. If you only want recordings, you are paying monthly for something you could work through once.
