Skool vs Systeme.io: Fees and Which to Pick in 2026

Skool costs $9 or $99 a month plus a 10% or 2.9% cut. Systeme.io costs $0 to $97 and takes 0% of sales. The real gap, worked out at four revenue levels.

Skool and Systeme.io are not competitors so much as opposite halves of the same business. Skool runs one paid community with a feed, a classroom and a discovery engine that sends it traffic, charging $9 or $99 a month plus a 10% or 2.9% transaction fee. Systeme.io is an all in one marketing platform with funnels, email, websites, courses and an affiliate program, charging $0 to $97 a month and taking 0% of sales.

On price alone Systeme.io wins at almost every revenue level, and it is not close. On traffic Skool wins outright, because Systeme.io sends you none. Everything below works out where each of those facts stops mattering.

What is the difference between Skool and Systeme.io?

Skool sells a room. Systeme.io sells the machinery that fills rooms. On Skool the product is one community with a discussion feed, a classroom, live calls, levels and a leaderboard, and every member is buying access to that one place. On Systeme.io the product is a toolkit: sales funnels, email campaigns and automations, websites, blogs, a booking calendar, physical and digital product sales, and a community feature that exists but is not the point.

That difference decides the rest of the comparison. Skool cannot build you a landing page, send an email sequence or run a webinar funnel. Systeme.io has no discovery directory, no gamification and no network of other communities pushing traffic your way. Many people who compare the two end up using both, which is a legitimate answer and the one this article ends on.

Which is cheaper, Skool or Systeme.io?

Systeme.io, at every level in the table below, and the gap widens as you sell more. The reason is structural rather than promotional: Systeme.io charges a flat subscription and takes no percentage, while Skool's pricing is built around a cut of what you collect. Figures below are platform costs only and exclude Stripe or PayPal processing, which both charge separately at similar rates.

Monthly sales Skool Hobby Skool Pro Systeme.io Startup Systeme.io Unlimited
$500 $59.00 $113.50 $17 $97
$1,000 $109.00 $128.00 $17 $97
$5,000 $509.00 $244.00 $17 $97
$10,000 $1,009.00 $389.00 $17 $97

At $10,000 a month, Skool Hobby costs $1,009 and Systeme.io Startup costs $17. That is a difference of $992 a month, or nearly $12,000 a year, and anyone telling you the two platforms cost about the same has not done the arithmetic.

Now the part that the arithmetic leaves out. Skool's percentage buys distribution. Skool Discovery lists your community to people browsing the platform, and Growth Boost bids your community into the network's own traffic, which for many owners is the majority of their signups. Systeme.io has no equivalent and does not pretend to; you arrive with your own audience or you buy ads. If Skool's own network produces even a tenth of a $10,000 month, that $992 has bought something real. If you already have an email list and a following and only need a checkout, it has bought you nothing at all.

The crossover inside Skool itself: Skool Hobby becomes more expensive than Skool Pro at about $1,268 a month in sales, because $9 plus 10% and $99 plus 2.9% are equal at the point where 7.1% of sales equals $90. If you are on Hobby and clearing more than roughly $1,270 a month you are paying extra to be on the cheaper plan. What does the Systeme.io free plan actually include?

More than most free plans, and enough to launch with. On 3 September 2026 the free tier listed 3 sales funnels across 15 steps, 1 course with up to 500 students, 1 community with unlimited members, 1 website, 1 custom domain, 1 automation rule, 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails sent, and the same 0% transaction fee as every paid plan.

That last point is the one people miss. On Systeme.io you can sell a course to 500 students on a plan that costs nothing and hand over no percentage. Skool has no free tier at all, only a trial before the first charge, so the cheapest way to run a paid Skool community is $9 a month plus a tenth of everything you collect.

The catch is the ceiling. One course, one funnel set, 2,000 contacts and one automation rule is a launch, not a business. The first plan most people actually need is Startup at $17, and by the time a funnel library and a webinar matter, $47 or $97. Even Systeme.io's most expensive plan undercuts Skool Pro at every level: $97 flat against $99 before Skool has taken a single percent, and the gap only widens as sales rise.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Skool if the community is the product. If people are paying for the room, for the people in it, for the weekly call and for the feed, then you want the platform built around exactly that, and the traffic from Discovery and Growth Boost is worth the percentage. Nothing in Systeme.io reproduces a Skool feed, a leaderboard, or a directory of buyers already browsing for what you sell. Our breakdowns of the leaderboard's top earning communities are almost all rooms whose value is the room.

Choose Systeme.io if the funnel is the product. If your business is a lead magnet, an email sequence, a landing page, a webinar and a checkout, Skool cannot build any of that and you would be bolting five other tools onto it. Systeme.io does all five for $17 to $97, with no cut of sales and its own affiliate programme included.

Choose both if you sell a community but market it yourself. This is the most common real answer among people who ask the question. Systeme.io runs the free lead magnet, the email nurture and the sales page; Skool runs the paid room the sales page points at. You pay two subscriptions and the Skool percentage only applies to what Skool actually collects. If you are still deciding whether the room is the business, start with do you need an audience to start a Skool community, then read how to price a Skool community.

For readers weighing Skool against the other all in one platforms in this category, the same trade off appears in Skool vs Kajabi, Skool vs GoHighLevel and Skool vs Kartra: each of those charges more for the marketing stack and takes less of the revenue, and none of them sends you traffic.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Systeme.io cost per month?

Systeme.io lists four plans: Free at $0, Startup at $17 a month, Webinar at $47 a month and Unlimited at $97 a month, as displayed on its pricing page on 3 September 2026. Yearly billing is advertised as two months free. All four plans carry a 0% transaction fee.

Is Systeme.io worth it?

It is worth it if you need funnels, email marketing, a website and a checkout in one subscription and you are bringing your own traffic. Its 0% transaction fee means it costs the same at $500 a month in sales as at $50,000. It is not worth it as a community platform, because the community feature is a side product rather than the core of the tool.

Is Systeme.io trustworthy?

It is an established platform with a published pricing page, a permanently free tier and standard payment processors including Stripe, PayPal and several regional providers. We report only what its own pricing page states and cannot vouch for any individual experience. Verify current terms on the live page before subscribing.

Does Skool or Systeme.io take a percentage of sales?

Skool does. It charges 10% on the $9 Hobby plan and 2.9% on the $99 Pro plan, on top of the subscription. Systeme.io lists a 0% transaction fee on all four of its plans. Both leave payment processing fees, typically about 2.9% plus 30 cents, to Stripe or PayPal.

Can Systeme.io replace Skool?

Not for a community business. Systeme.io includes a community feature with unlimited members, but it has no discussion feed at the centre of the product, no gamification, no mobile community app and no discovery directory sending you members. If people are paying for the room itself, replacing Skool with Systeme.io removes the thing they are paying for.

Can Skool replace Systeme.io?

No. Skool has no sales funnels, no email campaigns or automations, no websites or blogs and no evergreen webinars. It is a community platform with a classroom attached. Owners who need marketing infrastructure run it elsewhere and point it at their Skool about page.

Which is better for selling courses, Skool or Systeme.io?

For a course you sell once and never touch again, Systeme.io, because there is no percentage and no need for a feed. For a course whose value comes from the group working through it together, Skool, because the classroom sits inside a community with live calls, a leaderboard and other members. The deciding question is whether buyers want the material or the room.
